Cape property market ignites

Cape Cod Times

( Sent from )

Deb Martin, CEO of ERA Cape Real Estate in Dennis and Yarmouth, said the market for second homes and investment properties is especially strong. “Many companies have had a banner year so far,” she said. “For my company alone, it’s been about a 40 percent increase in sales.””

Good for the property owner looking to sell, not so good for the worker looking for housing to own based upon Cape Cod wages.

  1. Actually, this is a good time for the “Cape Cod worker” to enter the housing market. Interest rates are extremely low, there are easy, low cost, entry level financing programs for the first time home buyer, and there are still affordable condos and single family homes available. For most two income families, it is indeed cheaper to own than to rent right now. The market that has become extremely expensive and less affordable to the average Cape Cod worker is the year round rental market.
